Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Depends upon the 383, and what you'll be doing with the car. Best power with a healthy 383, probably Hooker 2210 long tubes. Best ground clearance and good performance with a mild 383, Hooker 2055 shorties & y-pipe. Best combo of performance and ground clearance, PM TGO member Dyno Don about the headers he makes.

Re: Headers for 84 camaro

I see you live in CT. Do they use salt on the roads in the winter? If so go with SLP stainless steel 1 3/4" or 1 5/8" headers. They are more $$$ but if you plan on keeping your car you won't regret it.

SLP no longer offers their headers.

Ceramic coating is better than stainless because it offers both corrosion protection and heat transfer resistance. If you're doing a high temp application like turbo charging, ceramic coat stainless headers.

What do you consider a "good" price? No matter what, you're going to spend some serious coin to put good exhaust on a 3rd gen. If you're spending the money to put a 383 in the car, it doesn't make any sense to cut corners on the exhaust.

You'll get the best price for the Hookers from Summit or Jegs.

Dyno Don will tell you the price for his headers when you PM him.

Wrapped stainless headers work a lot better than coated headers. The engine bay stays much cooler w/ wrapped headers than w/ coated ones.

Yah, we had ceramic coated Expansion Chambers on our modified Sno-X sleds and they had spotty rust after only one season. They looked bad but worked good.
