Which exhaust setup for my Firebird? or even bother yet?

So, I've been kind of curious. If I wanted to upgrade the exhaust/headers set-up on my 91 305 TBI Firebird, and I'm planning to drop in an L98 or LT-1 (unless I find some kind of ridiculous deal on an LS1) down the road, would I be able to use this stuff on my new motor? or should I just worry about a swap before any kind of exhaust stuff? (I'm just curious, because aren't some parts usable on both 305s and 350's?).

Even if I can't do that, I could still use some exhaust advice anyway. There are a ton of choices out there, and I don't know what to go with. I'm looking for a setup that wouldn't be too terribly loud at idle and low RPM's (in the interest of not attracting too many cops), but will still scream at higher RPMS/WOT, and provide the best possible power gains, while providing my other needs.

All advice/suggestions welcome

what you will want is a magnaflow system, nice and quite but nice rumble at idle and round town crusin but when you get on it she'll scream! its also one of the top flowing systems and defintly a hell of an good price at 320 at bandit exhuast! there are also countless other positives to the sytem i really dont think there is any negatives!

for an good price combo go with the hooker 2055's that include the y-pipe, will gain you plenty of power for cheap. and then for 95 bucks from bandit why not throw in the magnaflow cat?

this combo will net you a very very nice power increase and rpm increase and will let people know your there when you want to. also the combo will work with and L98 and i belive an LT1 to. good luck

So, I had one more question regarding this. Based on what I've been able to youtube, I'm going to have to say the Flowmasters do sound better to my ears, BUT, I've been told that Magnaflows actually flow better, therefore outperforming flowmasters. I'm more leaning towards the Magnaflows anyway (In person is almost always a different experience), but I was just curious about the "flow factor", so to say

The magnaflow will flow better than the flowmaster.

i also gotta agree that the flows do sound better from what iv heard but i just wont be able to stand the raspiness of it and there really arent many vids of the maganflow exhuast on a stocker car. and yes the magnaflow do flow MUCH MUCH better

So I've done a bit more "listening" around, so to say, via youtube

Although I've found a few good examples, most of the Magnaflow sound examples I've found just aren't really doing it for me. I have a feeling I may have to look into something a bit louder to get the sound I'm after, and I'd be willing to budge, just not looking to get something extremely loud like an SLP loudmouth system, lol. But many people around here say Flowmasters are mostly all sound, and don't flow all that great, so I'm considering other options, since ultimately, I want good flow too.

What other factors should I consider in how an exhaust system might sound before looking into it? And also, are Dynomax any good?

the hooker exhuast systems are suppose to be pretty good. i havent heard anything on dynomax but if summit still has it, there was an 75 dollar rebate on the system you would need. or there is texas speed and peformance i belive its called, its an system like magnaflow but with a magnaflow bullet muffler and non stainless and is only something like 200 bucks.
