heat riser valve delete

I have seen heat riser valve deletes on older cars. I dont have mine hooked up and I need to do some exhaust work. I would like to replace it with a delete. I found one company called Hamilton Manufacturing that makes heat riser deletes but they say they only fit some third gen cars.

here is there website http://www.hamiltonmanufacturing.ca/hrv.htm

I was looking at the 650b which supposedly only fits 89 camaros.

I called hamilton and got a office person who asked a question to someone else and they basically did not know if or why the 650b would not fit my particular application. 1984 z28 h.o. with the g engine.

Does anyone know if in fact there is no difference in the exhaust of these two third gens?

or

Are other heat riser delete valves available?

Thanks

Carbed cars had the EFE valve while TPI cars were equipped with a spacer, which is essentially the valve without the butterfly. Most members who swap in headers do away with their spacers, so you might score a freebie in the classifieds.

2 1/4" outlet manifolds with single 3" y-pipe
83-86 305 L69 (VIN G)
85-89 305 LB9 (VIN F)
88 350 L98 (VIN 8)
89 350 L98 w/o G92 axle (VIN 8)

2 1/4" outlet manifolds with dual 2 1/4" cats
89 350 L98 w/G92 axle (VIN 8)
90-92 350 L98 (VIN 8)
89 305 LB9 w/G92 Axle (VIN F)
90-92 305 LB9 w/G92 (Vin F)

Thanks James!

Follow up question-

Do you think the spacer from hamilton would work if I can't find someone with a spacer?

There's a second one: HR475B (86-88 for 5.0/5.7). The 89 "looks" more like the way I remember them, but, hey, I'm getting old.

It was around 50$ because of international shipping.

Re: heat riser valve delete

Fel-Pro or Walker sells an exhaust donut (Walker 31533) that will fill the gap in a pinch. The GM spacer is the valve casting without the flapper and vacuum can, if you've got the valve you can just torch or knock out the flapper and can. Just leave the pivot shaft, or tap/plug the holes or you'll have an exhaust leak.

Re: heat riser valve delete

It was worth the money for the part. Personally I would rather buy it than make it because of time and finished product. It is just like you described, a cast piece with no valve or box. I prefer it to a donut, because of its replacement size and the bolt holders that keep it properly in place. Size is important to me because I have shorty headers with a Y-Pipe that need that space filled.

Hi, which delete you end up using? I need the one for the a 350.

the HR650B looks about right (the inside diameter).

Re: heat riser valve delete

I got HR475B

I haven't installed it. It is sitting in my closet with a stainless exhaust and my car has been in storage for almost two years. I just took it out for the first time the other day to get it on the road again.

Re: heat riser valve delete

When I bougt my 92 GTA the exhaust was in peices and after I put it back on I noticed it didn't have the heat riser valve. How do I get a heat riser vavle for a 92 Gta.. I've been told the 91 and 92 had a 2 bolt instead of the 3 bolt. Does anyone know if this is something I delete or do I have to buy another heat riser valve? And I have to buy another one where would I be able to find one? I've looked around but I've had no luck finding one
