headers don't...fit?!

I got some edelbrock shorty headers and they didn't fit. I looked them up on edelbrock.com and it said it fit a 91 305 and 350, but I got a 92 305...is there really THAT big of a difference or am I just dumb..? I thought headers just fit on the block with the problems soon as the stock manifolds were off..?

Re: headers don't...fit?!

did they say that they would fit just that model year. they should work. my headers are long tubes and they will fit 82-92 model years.

Re: headers don't...fit?!

i do not have edelbrock headers , i have heddman's . a part # for your headers would help those that have the same ones . myself i don't know what difference between the 2 years would be . good luck .

Re: headers don't...fit?!

did you have to take off your valve covers just to get them close enough to the block? also, I think I woulda had to take my steering column out, and even then I think I woulda had to choose between the column and the header. guess which one I chose...

Re: headers don't...fit?!

IIRC, the driver side header installed from below, the pass side could do from above - but I too have Hedman.

Re: headers don't...fit?!

There's is no difference in how the headers fit for 305 to 350 in any year from 82-92. Some cars they will drop in with no problem and some you will have a problem. The reason for this is how the K-Member is centered. You will know that by looking at the front wheels. One side sits in further than the other one. On Camaros you can tell by how straight the snorkel is. In some cases you may have to lift the engine to get them in. In 88-92 cars just take out the A/C compressor bolts but not the compressor to get the headers in.

Re: headers don't...fit?!

the edelbrock headers wil fit it just take some patience, you will have to take the valve covers off too. I have them and have taken both sides off a few times without much issue. It also depends on if you have all the emissions stuff in the way on the passenger side, that stuff needs to be removed to get that header in.

Re: headers don't...fit?!

I installed Edelbrock TES headers about 3 years ago on my 5.7 TPI. I think that I removed the starter, passenger side, and had to disconnect the steering shaft, drivers side. The enclosed instructions walked me thru it, not a cake walk, but very doable. After 3 driving seasons I can still say that I love the sound of my car (also installed a Dyno Max cat back exhaust), the headers still look great, and I think that the car runs better, maybe that's just me, but I do not regret it. Re: headers don't...fit?!

I had the EDL-68763 on my 90 305 when I got the car the seemed to fit well and not to hard to pull off so I assume not to hard to put on. They had rust on them so I pulled them and put a set of Hookers on and been running straight headers but when the edelbrocks were on it did sound good threw a 3 in exhaust to a flowmaster 40. But I dident have ground clearance and it was rusted so I pulled it all off and it dident bolt up to the Hookers since edelbrock uses the 2 bolt flange.
