Exhaust Cutout help?
I just purchased a single exhaust cutout system for my 85 z28, thought it would be a fun buy. However, I have heard of the dangers of these, they can actually burn a hole threw the floorboards, however, I think that is if you aim the cutout upwards?
Anyways, I would like to put the exhaust cutout after my headmen Y-pipe where my converter is suppose to be. I suppose I am just looking for what type of angle I should have on cutout, more directly even the ground effect, or angled down. Just looking for some feedback. Thanks.

angled down as much as possible but not angled down so as to "catch" on anything.
You also want it to be easily accessible so you don't have to jack up the car to open and close it (if you have the 3 bolt wingnut style cutout).

Re: Exhaust Cutout help?
Exhaust isn't hot enough to burn trough the sheetmetal of the floor. What it could do though, is the fumes find every little crack in a seam, get inside the car & make it really stink inside your car.
Angled outwards will help get the fumes & the noise out. Aim it straight down & you'll get the sound bouncing between the ground & the floor over & over. Can get really annoying inside.
Did you get a manual or electric one?

Re: Exhaust Cutout help?
I purchased the electric exhaust cutout system. As far as noise goes I am looking to make more, its purely for fun around town. When it starts to annoy me, i will simply flip the switch and go back to quiet. Thanks for all the feedback.
