Header Question

I have never seen this addressed. I'm looking for a shorty header that does not point directly at the oil pan. I know most do this, like my Hedmans, so the y-pipe can cross over in front of the oil pan. I hate this design! I would love to see a left side shorty header that points down and rearward as the right side Hedman shorty does. Also, it would need to clear my 5-speed slave cylinder. I've looked at some Patriot Clipsters that won't clear the clutch. Anyone have any luck? Or do I need to just build my own? I would prefer 1 5/8" with a 3" collector. This would be a great and cheap alternative to long tubes and would get rid of the snake-like y-pipe. Thanks for any help or ideas.

Re: Header Question

My experience with exhaust setups is your best bet being to break out the welder and do it yourself, can I ask why you don't like the current setup? I've got an edelbrock y pipe and air tube headers and they don't get in the way of anything, except the plugs obviously, but yeah diy is your best bet

Re: Header Question

For one thing, I can't open up the headers because the left side is aimed directly at the oil pan. Plus, I don't like having the left side run along snake tube all around when the right side goes pretty much directly to the intermediate pipe. Funky back pressure and all. I would like a fairly equal y-pipe setup to the 3" intermediate pipe and be able to run open headers at the strip. Thanks for your reply!

Re: Header Question

yeah youll have to do that one yourself, ive never been a fan of open headers, especially shorties, you could take some pipe and run a true dual setup but thats alot of work just to open em up, and i think the drivers side is a bit harder to run piping down due to ground clearance, dont quote me on that though.

ALmost every y pipe ive seen is designed that way though, even my friends GTA had a pacesetter exhaust on it, it was a true dual but both his headers were routed down to the exhaust on the passenger side

im sure somebody has figured out a solution but opening your header up by the pan is probably a no go like you noted
