headers and crappy(no) y-pipe

like the title says... I have headers with 3 inch exhaust but there isnt a y-pipe.. it just runs from one header to the next in a straight line and the passenger header connects right in, no y at all aiming straight toward the ground... is this performance robbing?

y pipes have at least a little tube length.. this pretty much just goes straight down in to the pipe... idk, i just figured it would rob performance the way the exhaust would just head straight into a pipes wall
