Thinking of Building my own Duals
Ive been thinking about this setup for a while now.. Im on a real tight budget but Ive been picking through some parts and I think Ive found a reasonable setup.
How does this sound
Pacesetter 3"headers
No cats (none on currently)
two Flowmaster Super 44's
and a set of Black Chrome aggressive angle tips
Any advice [comments, suggestions] on how to run this set-up
Its on a 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula 305 TBI
Also I was contemplating either Side exits or just oldschool right out the back

Re: Thinking of Building my own Duals
Good luck getting the two mufflers to tuck and not scrape a bunch of stuff. Also, unless you want true duals just have it, I would personally just by a cat back (doesnt matter if you actually have one) and be done with it. Much easier.

Re: Thinking of Building my own Duals
i have true duals, and i used to always have ground clearance problem, nevertheless i have tucked them up quit a bit more and i havent scrap not once since i re-did it. i went from regular mufflers to bullet type mufflers and was able to get more clearance than i thought. just a lil fyi. as long as u can tuck them up u will be great. good luck!

Re: Thinking of Building my own Duals
i also have duals, stockish ride height(27" rear tire not much difference) and don't really scrape that much, and the shop that did them didn't do too great a job. as for fitting the mufflers, i'd knock the rear seat pans in get yourself a little more room. theres a guy on ls1tech that actually cut the pan out and replaced it with sheetmetal higher up so he could fit a flowmaster. i'll see if i can find the thread and link it.
