Exhaust options with dual cat setup
I'm looking to scrap the exhaust on my 91 dual cat car in favor of completely different setup (probably used parts). It has dual cats, however they are just pipes as far as I can tell, though the AIR tubes still run to them. At any rate, I'm confused about what to do with this section. I would kind of like to keep the dual cats, though I know just switching to a single would be easiest.
What options do I have if keeping the duals? I'd like to get that section replaced since it has numerous leaks. Essentially I want to know what headers/cat backs will work with the dual catalytic converter section. I don't want to start ordering the various pieces and then have them not connect. I also don't have a ton of cash to spend on custom fabrication. All in all I'd like the price to be sub-500.
Thanks for any input.

Re: Exhaust options with dual cat setup
the cat back system you buy needs to be labeled for a dual cat set, and they are different on the end where they attach tot he cats, because obviously there are 2 instead of 1.
or you can buy a complete header back system with a single cat and go that route too. FWIW the factory dual cat setup was better than the factory single cat setup, but a modern highflow single cat will outperform the factory duals.
However, if you change to a single cat, it is technically "illegal", but you will probably never have an issue.
you wont find headers, ypipe or not, and a catback to fit anything for under 500bux.

Re: Exhaust options with dual cat setup
Flowtech headers-$119
Flowtech Y-pipe-$119
Texas Speed & Performance Rumbler cat-back system-$239
Total so far....$477.
If you put on a catalytic converter to look legal despite the lack of A.I.R. tubes.....
Dynomax Catalytic Converter-$52
And that puts you at $529 total
