will removing this actually do harm to my emissions for my cat is already gutted and there are two sensor thingys on the pass side of block next to intake do those need to come off and if i do will i get codes (i have unplugged them before and not gotten codes) also if you know what sensors those are and what they do that would be nice.

Re: AIR pump delete
On my 1988 GTA the AIR hard line that runs to the cat is attached to the back right side of the block with a bolt holding a bracket. From what I can tell it is a 12mm bolt but I can't get a socket over it due to interference from the bracket and there is no room for an open end. From what I can tell, this is about the hardest era and model of care to get anything done on. Most of this stuff was mounted to the engine before it was installed and was never designed with service in mind.

Re: AIR pump delete
cut the line at the cat and bend back and forth until it breaks free from the bracket. the gm engineers were probably laughing after they designed these cars.

Haha, you can actually get a wrench on the ground bolt at the back of the head. Just have patients, it all went well for me.

Re: AIR pump delete
Same place on the drivers side, right on the back of the head. But the studs also hold grounds on on each side. So make sure all the grounds go back on.

Re: AIR pump delete
Not too sure about an 87'. I just know on my 88' the metal line that runs behind the dist was bolted to the heads via the ground stud.
Just feel behind the head, and follow the metal line, if it only attaches to one head then that's great!

Re: AIR pump delete
ok also what type of cat will i need because i am deleting this stuff is there any direct fits without an air tube because i heard these cats clog if you dont have the air pump there (will a magnaflow direct fit cat survive if i dont connect the air tube?)

Re: AIR pump delete
When I bought a cat, it had a cap over the air tube as if to say its fine to use it without air. It still looked fine inside when I checked it after about ten thousand miles. Your first post seems to say your cat is gutted anyway.

Re: AIR pump delete
The are solenoids that control
where the air pump flow is directed -- into the exhaust manifolds,
and/or cat(s), if memory serves me correctly.
If your current cat is , i.e. the internal
honeycomb has been removed, and therfore will flow better than
before, & it passes inspection, why remove it?
If cleaning up the engine bay by removing the air-pump & solenoid
thingys is the goal, universal cats are available without the air inlet tube.
But then:
-- what about the manifold inlets?
-- physically removing the air-pump will require either
(a) a dummy pulley or (b) re-routing the serpentine belt per
a post in the Tech Articles section.
(FYI, an open air-pump is very noisy.)
Good luck,
PS. Punctuation & capitalizion help a lot.
