need some exhaust help
need some exhaust help
the other night while driving home, the exhaust pipe (right after the cat) completely rotted out and fell to the ground. is there any sleeve I can put in place to hold it just for now? or do I have to replace the entire pipe? I got prices for the entire pipe from anywhere from $200-$500 installed. no way in hell am I going to put that kind of money into my car being that I'm trying to sell it soon. any help would be great. thanks

depending on what you have left on the cat side, you may just be able to grab a small adapter from your local auto parts store. they're usually about 4-5" long. If not, you may be able to grab some scrap from a local exhaust shop for cheap as well. however, if there's no lip for the piece to slide over on the cat side, you may be out of luck
if you're trying to sell the car, don't give the potential buyers a reason to look for issues. an exhaust leak is going to make people question other maintenance and start lowballing offers. food for thought.
