Crooked Muffler

The muffler on my 88 Formula (5.0 TBI V8 Auto). Isn't level or even close under the car. The exhaust tips aren't way off but are not evenly spaced either. Could this just be a hack job of an install that can be fixed (i.e. a common install error) or is this more of a "let's make it fit" job. I haven't had a chance to get under the car and see if I can tell if it's just hung wrong but thought I would ask if this is common. Any tips or links to how to fix it would be great. I'm as novice as you can get when it comes to exhaust and most other work but this project is inteded to teach me how...

Thanks... I appologize if this has already been answered but didn't find anything in any searches I did.

Thanks!

Level or centered (normal to be off center)? If the latter, check the following link for info on the muffler and the tail pipes.

EDIT: No need for the link.

Re: Crooked Muffler

The right end of the muffler (looking at the back of the car) hangs a good 6" lower than the left end.

I didn't see a link in the previous post.

Check the hangers on each pipe after the muffler. Sounds like the right one broke. If that is the case, I bet it bounces while driving & will eventually snap off when the pipe breaks.
