Re: dual cat headers

Edelbrock's are OK if you dont want any performance out them... Don's are probably the best made shorty headers for our cars. Take a look at the Edelbrocks.. take notice of how they crush the primary tubes into the collector, which inhibits airflow (which is the opposite of why we want headers on the car) take a look at the Y pipe, they did the same thing there..

BUT, i understand where you are coming from, not every one wants/needs $700 headers.
I bought Hedman shorty headers because i found them, with air tubes, on ebay for $90 shipped.. then had a custom Y pipe made for dual cat..

Re: dual cat headers

You're not even getting equal length tubes with any of them.
But if its a header you want that is going to flow more than a stock cast iron.
And the Edelbrock come with everyting so its plug and play.
Well almost everything.... no grease so you can slide the passenger side in!

Re: dual cat headers

For your first headers you will buy anything, then usually you will see why it's best to buy something good the first time.

If you want tubing manifolds......buy Edelcrocks.

Re: dual cat headers

....says the man selling them lol......its not a race car. just wanting something to make it sound better. its got an exhaust leak so i figured if i gotta take the manifolds off to fix that i might as well put on something a lil better. but im not gonna spend that much money when i could rebuild a motor for the same price.

hell in that case.. buy flowtech's... cheapest out there, and at least they dont crush the primary tubes... they just suck at fitting.. but you'll need to fab or have someone fab a Y pipe, and that will pretty much be the case for any header system you will buy because everyone has stopped making the dual cat system.

Re: dual cat headers

No, i went through this about seven months ago. If you want to keep your stock dual ypipe then you will still have to get the dual ypipe designed for your headers and cut it too. When i got my headers used. They were the dual ypipe version headers, ok,so the guy gave me a ypipe but it was the for single ypipe headers. So, i ended up having to cut both my stock dual ypipe and cut the ypipe the guy gave me and then drive to the exhaust shop(open headers) to have the stuff welded up.
