need help with hoses on evap canister
have an 89 gta 5.0, and trying to get it to pass emissions so i can get it on the road. getting a new catalyctic monday, and need to find out where i failed the evap part. i have 2 smaller hoses coming out of my evap canister, and 1 larger one. the first small one runs all the way to the passenger side, hits a small round connection, continues to connect to a metal line, and runs down under the firewall towards the back. the 2nd smaller one runs over and connects to the manifold on the passenger side. the larger hose runs towards the steering column firewall, but the guy before me chopped it aabout a foot before it can get there. picked up a haynes last night, and it's diagram only shows 2 hoses.
also discovered a small gooseneck without any hose hooked up, and that is right underneath where the intake connects to the manifold.
am i missing the control valve that connects between the 2?

Re: need help with hoses on evap canister
i didnt find it in there. every diagram i have seen only shows 2 hoses. 1 to gas tank, and one to manifold. i have both of these connected, it runs over to the passenger side, and the 3rd hose is larger, and cut.
perhaps previous guy moved canister to driver side, since both hoses run to other side, and the other chopped hose is on the opposide side of the bay in which i am looking. car is at shop now, i'll check her out when they open up.
and if not, i suppose i'll just cap it off, and hose clamp it for the test and see.

Mine has three hoses. one to the gas tank, one to the throttle body, and one went down the passenger fender under the canister and ended there. Some kind of vent line?

possibly. i checked many junkyards today, and only came across camaros. none of their evap canisters matched up with mine. most of them were carb'd, or missing everything in the engine bay. so its hard to tell. also tried calling rochester parts, trying to ask them about it. i guess they werent home.

Re: need help with hoses on evap canister
i've relocated my canister, but: small hose goes to the bottom of the TB, one large hose goes to the left side of the TB, and another hose goes back to the fuel tank via a metal home. this is assuming you have TPI

tpi is correct. yours looks a lot like mine. i checked the pass side of tb for connection, and found squat. where does yours connect, and what does it look like? want to have it plugged in for the 2nd emissions test tomorrow.
