Could there be a difference or are they the same
I've been looking for a replacement air injection pipe. The one the hooks up to the converter and snakes its way up to the engine compartment with a check valve on the end of it and man, they are hard to find. I've found a couple different companies that still make them. The problem I've run into to is that when you look at the description of it, it tells you that its for a 305 f,h, etc motors. One says fits 83 to 87 camaro's and 83 to 92 firebirds. Strange, thought they would use the same pipe thru all the years in both makes. I have a 350 tpi motor in my iroc. Would there be a difference between the 350 8 motor pipe and the 305 f motor pipe or are they the same. To me, I wouldnt think there wouldnt be a difference all since both motors are practically the same. Anybody have any ideas?

I can't imagine they'd be all that different. All of the V8's use pretty much the same setup, the only difference would be dual cat cars from 89 up.

If they would be different, the only thing I can think of the why they would be different would be the size of the pipe. Maybe one could be like 3/8 or 1/2 inch pipe and another would be 3/4 depending on year. I think they would be the same for 305's and 350's from atleast 87 to 92.

Might have something to do with the cars that had dual cats maybe? Not sure how dual cats plays with the AIR system.
Any piece of metal tubing will work - just needs to be metal because the heat transferred from the cat would melt anything else. All it's doing is sending more oxygen via the AIR pump to the cat to increase the heat and thus burn off more emissions right?

I've had several of them from different cars laying around, side by side. The tube is just a stainless pipe with the threaded fitting on the end for the check valve. It just follows the Y pipe down tot he converter. The size of the pipe is the same for early and late cars, carbed all the way to 350 cars. The dual cat version comes down to about the middle of the Y where the pipes are side by side and it splits, one pipe for each cat. The only break in the tube is just below the bracket that bolts tot he back of the passengers side head. On the dual cat cars there's a slip joint there with a clamp. I'm not sure if the single cat cars had the joint or not. The joint usually won't come apart even if you want it to.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure that the pipe was the same size thru the years. I thought they might of changed something from when they went from the perimeter valve cover heads to the center bolt heads in 87. I knew about the dual cat air pipe being different. Thanks for your help.
