Emissions and such
I just put headers and y pipe on my 88 iroc z with the 5.0. So the AIR system is gone. Should I still run an o2 sensor, I have a bung for it but the cat is also gone. I also Have a jet stage 2 chip. will not running the o2 sensor mess everything up? And if I dont take the AIR pump or whatever the line goes to off will this cause a problem?

Im not a camaro expert by any means but am an auto tech. You should be fine with removing the air system but may get a check engine light if its a computer monitored system but you have have your chip tuned to eliminate this . The O2 sensor you need to have. Thats how the computer controls fuel mixture. Without the O2 sensor the computer will throw a check engine light when it tries to go into closed loop and will stay in open loop and run rich. unless you have a custom tune done. This is my understanding. I may be wrong

Yes, you need a functioning O2 sensor for the fuel system to work correctly. If you have no cat the AIR system doesn't do anything so I wouldn't worry about that. Although I would suggest if you are gonna put a cat on it to go Magnaflow, they are cheap and flow well.

ok now i have not got the pump taken off yet. will the computer let the car run right if there is no pressure on the output of the pump. or is it all a strictly mechanical pump at that point.
