my exhaust build
Was not 100% sure if I should put this in the lsx swap or the exhaust section but it will go here and if it needs moved I'm sure it will be anyway. I'm in the home stretch at finishing my lsx swap and I'm running f-body manifolds and my car had no exhaust to begin with so I'm starting completely from scratch. My muffler I'm using is a single in single out 3in 14in long oval case magnaflow. Ill be using one driverside 3in tail pipe from a american thunder flowmaster kit along with the 3in over the axle pipe which ill have to add some to it to reach the muffler for the tail pipe to sit where I want. So far I'm about 75% done building my y pipe its full 3in and mandrel bent. I bought a box of 3in mandrel bends from ebay for like $40. For the most part I didn't need to cut much I was able to work with what came in. Lastnight I built the pipes off the maniflds and to where they will merge. Today I started cutting part of the bend out where the driver side pipe will merge into it. The crossover is right under where the tq converter is but my cinverter is just a 9.5in guy and there should be enough clerance to get a dust shield in there if I need/want to I may end up wraping that part with header wrap though just in case it may put off enough heat to warm up the trans fluid.
Where it merges is right at the point where the factory y pipe came into the cavity for the converter. I've got an old 2 1/4 converter that was hollowed out and on my 82 ta when I got it so I think I'm gona cut the ends off of it and weld a piece of 3in pipe through it to simulate my cat and from there its just a matter of a couple of bends to meet up with my.I pipe. Here are a few pictures of what I have now. I may cut the very end of the flowmaster tip off and make it where its not such of a angle cut and to help keep it tucked up and hidden so far I've got about $90 in the whole system.
