Flowmaster or Dynomax

Hey guys, I'm looking to switch out mufflers on my 83 Carbed Camaro. Mildly modded with an Edelbrock top end as well as newer manifolds and new catback with Flowmaster muffler. My plan is to run the cat for now and do a muffler shortly after the cat with a turn down. Now, I'm either thinking of going with a Dynomax Bullet, Flowmaster 10 series or Flowmaster Super 44. What do you guys recommend? I want a good tone without a lot of high end rasp.

Re: Flowmaster or Dynomax

You probably have to run a cat up there in Mass, right? Both Dynomax and Flowmaster, and probably some others, make matched cats and mufflers. My brother has a stainless Loudmouth system on his LS Camaro and you can't hear the radio.
My '82 carbed 305 has a factory 3" HO intermediary pipe, Flowmaster 80 and Hedman headers; I love it but it's not necessarily the best, depends on your taste.

Re: Flowmaster or Dynomax

i had a flow it sounded good from the out side, but droaned like a s.o.b. inside ..... i had it on there 8 years and just changed out for a cherry bomb vortex, i got a video on you tube of it, but this is going to be like going to a bar and asking bud or miller, everyone is going to have a favorite

I got the DynoMax. I love the sound. Good low rpm rumble, Great acceleration, higher rpm, "music", so I've been told. I am happy with it. To each his own! Randy

Exact-a-mundo: I just finished a 700 mile drive, did 3/4 of it with the window down so I could listen to my Flowmaster. To each his own.

Re: Flowmaster or Dynomax

I have the Flowmaster 80 series and couldnt be happier. I started out with a Borla and only ran it a month then put a Flowmaster on there. If you are looking for sound, its the way to go in my opinion. It sounds like what I think a muscle car should sound like. Post a sound clip when you do it.

Not as bad as you think. I just shipped a Borla muffler to Puerto Rico and I think it was only 40 bucks. Gotta be cheaper state side.

EDIT** It was 45 with insurance and signed delivery overseas.

Re: Flowmaster or Dynomax

My muffler man put 45 degree turndowns just inside the rear bumper from my Flowmaster, no chrome or stainless tips, looks like an old superstock car, understated, and sounds great. Inside you can just hear it until you turn up the music a bit--now planning a 1,000 mile trip to northern New Mexico and Colorado, love that sound.
