Re: smog pump delete??

You have to remove the pulley off the pump to access the bolts that hold the pump on the bracket. Just 3 bolts that hold the pulley on, 2 bolts that hold the pump on to the bracket then from the back side just need to take the 2 small bolts off that bolt the air inj valve on and that's all you need to do to take the pump out its really simple

Re: smog pump delete??

looks like he has some parts manual for it or something, its a pretty easy task. you should be able to do it no problem once you take the pulley off. and a tip. loosen the bolts before you take the belt off

Re: smog pump delete??

The air pump is an emissions control device, and it is illegal and a violation of FEDERAL law to remove it on a street car in the United States. Even if your state doesnt do emissions testing, its still illegal to remove an emissions device.

It has to be said to keep thirdgen.org from getting into trouble.

By the way, my car is making 377 horsepower to the wheels, and I still have all emissions devices hooked up and working, and it passes California's tough smog test.

Kevin that is only half true from 1995 to 1996 Chevrolet released a tsb stating you could remove emissions / due to (Water in AIR Pump) issues they where having. I know I have one and the emissions is GONE..........Saved some weight and runs better

Re: smog pump delete??

Did anybody reply to this post because it is exactly what I was looking to do? Or did you ever just take the tubes off and leave the pump/belt?
