Performance quite exhaust
Well it didnt take me long to get harrassed by the cops...
Need some options to quite the ol girl up without killing performance. As of now, 500ish HP 383, dyno don headers, full 3 inch catless exhaust, magnaflow single out tailpipe.
Any options i can go that wont kill my performance? If i put a magnaflow high flow cat on will it decrease the volume and not kill performance? Any other good mufflers that wont mess with performance but are quite?
I picked magnaflow for 2 reasons, flow better then flowmasters, and herd they were not as loud.
I had a 305 with edelbrock headers, no cat, 3 inch with flowmaster and 4 inch tips that i think was louder, but seeing i have a cowl hood now and gauges showing its a magnet. Any suggestions?

Another option is do a custom exhaust. If you want to use a y pipe, in the I-pipe section before the rear, put in a magnaflow/dynomax ultraflo type round straight through muffler with a 5-6" case to start stage one quieting. This is like a SLP loudmouth 2 type exhaust... (a variation of this is just to put the longest dynomax bullet in the I pipe section that fits or string 2 shorter ones together to get longer if necessary) Then over the axle, split the exhaust into 2 exits. On each side right before the bumper, put in 2 more magnaflow/ultraflo rounds or bullets. Thats alot of muffling without restriction flow all that much. Just loose alittle bit of clearance with the big muffler under the rear end but can be tucked up depending on size. If you did smaller cased mufflers in the Ipipe you get good clearance still.
This is similar design to the SLP powerflow exhaust setup found on latemodel cars. Its a quieter option compared to the loudmouth. It has the loudmouth 2 muffler in the I pipe and twin thick cased mufflers out the back

1 step at a time i guess. I do like that setup but if i can get away with not buying 3 new mufflers that would be great. If i need too then its what i have to do.
How much less noise would i create if i 1) added a high flow cat or 2) added a bullet muffler where the cat goes. Which one would be the most quieter i guess am asking, and will it be quite enough?
I suppose i wont be wasting money putting something there, if its not good enough then i can try the dual mufflers in the back aswell.

Cat is going to be quieter than the bullet in there. I'd try the cat. I know on my L98 with bolt ons, my car was significantly louder with a cat in place. My 99 TA has a SLP loudmouth 2 on it with a catted y pipe and its alot quieter than other cars without cats.
I have a pair of smaller 3" magnaflow cats if your interested, i can sell one for cheap. There not real big, alittle smaller than stock sized cat.
