1991 Firebird v6 exhaust system

Hello I am new to this forum/website.

I recently purchased a 1991 firebird v6 completely stock and I was looking to put in an exhaust system. I have been looking at exhaust systems online but can only seem to find them for v8's, will these fit my v6? if not can anyone direct me to some to some v6 exhaust choices..I am looking for something very loud...a deep growl really...I know that's a very vague description but its the best description i can give, any help is greatly appreciated..thx

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The V6 pipes are smaller than the V8 systems, so a V8 system won't be "direct fit". It could be adapted to fit, though.

"V6" and "very loud" shouldn't be used together. A loud V6 just doesn't equal a deep growl.

Is there anything you can recommend for improving the sound? I've been looking around these forums and keep hearing ppl tell v6 owners to swap their engines and I don't want to do that. Just looking for some parts that will give my v6 the best sound possible--most websites ive visited only offer v8 exhaust options

Re: 1991 Firebird v6 exhaust system

i had a 3.1 v6 in my lumina, with y pipe and two glass packs.. really low rumble

i had a buddy that had a v6 mustang with duel exhaust and that thing sounded like turd, until he floored it. best sounding v6 i have ever herd,

i would go with mangnaflow or hooker exhaust systems... and u could bring it to a shop and they can put it on for ya and make it work..

when you say make it work you you mean they would be able to put the v8 systems on my v6?

Re: 1991 Firebird v6 exhaust system

The only real difference fitment-wise between V8 and 6 exhaust is the size of the pipe. So yes, any system that works for a V8 will work on a V6. I know for a fact that in the V6 area there's a thread called "best muffler for v6" with many, many sound clips of different mufflers and exhaust systems on 3.1's and 2.8's. Definitely go check that out.
The magnaflow super turbo whatever they sell at Summit is one of the most popular amongst the V6 group.
