I could be wrong, but I think if you measured an original, the main pipe coming from the cat would be 2.25" or less at the bends, and no larger than 2.5" in the straight.

Yes the hp TPI 305-350 cars got 2 3/4" intermedate pipe

Since the factory pipe seems to split the difference between your choices, I'd suggest the 3" pipe.
