Dual Outlet Cat vs. True Duals

I am looking into an engine that requires you run true dual exhaust on it to get the amount of power advertised, now I found a dual outlet cat that I am thinking I could run two pipes off of into mufflers, any input on whether true dual would be better or would this way work just as well? And also any ideas as to what it would sound like?
Thanks!

Re: Dual Outlet Cat vs. True Duals

the true dual requirement's a bit on the vague side; do they tell you what size is the requirement? most engines that end up in these cars are not going to be restricted by a 3" single catback and for the few exceptions, there are a couple 4" setups available as well. If you're trying to keep things simple, grab a decent set of shorties with a matching y-pipe, high flow cat, and any 3" catback you want. Unless you're pushing 400+ horsepower, you shouldn't be restricted with this kind of setup.

No required size listed, but I think I'll just go with a single 3" catback, I am thinking magnaflow 16829
