3" y pipe? who makes it??
im gathering parts for my camaro for the spring time, just picked up my magnaflow catback exhaust 16829 from summit. i have hooker shorty headers 2460s. i need an aftermarket y pipe that will fit those headers and have a true 3 inch pipe to the converter. Im not looking for 3" collectors and 2.5" pipe, unless you folks can tell me that the 2.5 would be suffiecent enough for my 383

I don't believe such a y pipe exists for those headers. You'd have to modify the one that goes with the 2460s or get something custom made.

The sticky at the top of the page should provide an interesting read. The following is a direct-fit 3" system:
Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

Flowmaster makes one. Look in the Summit book. Dual 2.5 into 3in pipe. $39.95 Part# FLO-Y250300. http://www.summitracing.com/search/?...-y250300&dds=1

I dont know much about your headers and the flow. But if you use a 2.50 Y with a dual 2.50 or 3" convertor out to your Magna Flow 16829 with your 383ci that will be fine. Im Ca carb and shops only have the 2.25 or a 3" and I have a 2.50 Y so Im guessing they expand my 2.50 to fit the 3" I hope. I just dont know the measurements of the expand and dual fitment. I posted 90 Dual magna flow convertors 2.50 Y fitment?? what needs done.. One shop with the best price wants to install 2.25 Ca carb cats and Im like Nah. And they trip out like there not suppost to use the 3" and they can get in trouble with the smog station.. Sounds like B.S to me.. I want to know what needs done to go with the 3".. I had a dyno jet tuning Dfi session on wide band an dfi map tuning 389rwhp an 442rwtq.. And the timing wasnt even finished.. 1/8th mile time with custom tune ran faster with the ecu. So I sold the Dfi Gen 6 plug n Play..Takes to old of lap tops to run so I got out of it while I could..

i actually went to the tallmadge store recently and looked at that part # and honeslty was not impressed with the part. its is alll bare pipe and the transitions from 3 inch collector to 2.5 inch pipe were horrible. i could weld bettter than that and i dont weld. hedman makes the same kit for like 125 and its much nicer quality and its painted too

Re: 3" y pipe? who makes it??
yes, i just picked up a parts car with emission headers mid length and it has to be 3 inch all the way out with no cat into one 40 series flow and single out all 3 inch, but the y pipe where is crosses from the left side is about an inch below the crossmember so it has a dent in it from bottoming out but i haven't checked on what headers they are, i am thinking about putting them on my 85 iroc seeing i need a set of headers anyways, just run the 2.5 so you don't have clearance issues.
