best rattle can option for headers?

i just got my hedman longtubes sandblasted (got em plastic wrapped up to prevent rust for now) but i need to find a good (enough) product to use on them. i know ceramic coating is the best and maybe thats possible but once the headers get modified at the shop to fit, id like to be able to coat them and get them on so i dont have to go in twice and spend more money, there is little to go around these days. if i go hi temp rattle can method, id probably just idle the car for like 10 min at a time for maybe 3-5 times to sort of "bake" it on..but my concern is..hi temp paint only keeps the headers from rusting it doesnt really keep the heat down in the engine comp. does it? i only have an lg4 right now so maybe it wont be that much of an issue? i just trying to avoid potential problems as i have no experience with headers and how they affect things heat wise. do any of you wise dudes know a good rattle can product i can use, or maybe what else in the engine bay i might need to product i.e. fuel lines etc if using rattle can method, any insight at all would be much appreciated!

I just recently bought a pair of hedman long tubes as well. I just went with the VHT header paint and hope no problems arise. You could use header wrap, but hedman suggests not to do this. Other than jet-coat, and ceramic coating not sure what will really reduce the temperature.

hi temp paint is just paint. So long as you use header paint, you will be fine. It will not change or lower the underhood temps, its just paint

I used VHT header paint, no complaints. Like 86TA said though it's just paint and won't do anything to reduce under hood temps.

Re: best rattle can option for headers?

ok, i thought as much on the paint...im thinkin i will just do that. has anyone experienced specific issues with any parts under the hood due to the heat from headers? what got me concerned about that was when i was reading the father and son engine swap (which was sweet) or i think it was that thread and they had an issue with the headers heating up the fuel line and causing problems..if i need to put a cover plate or some kind of protection down the road anywhere i can do that..but i guess i can cross that bridge when i come to it if no one has any input. i cant wait to know what the heck im doing...someday (sigh)

Re: best rattle can option for headers?

The only issue I have had is a heat soaked starter. But only when its in the 90's out.

Re: best rattle can option for headers?

I used vht header paint but had a starter wire that was to close causing the motor to cut out unexpededly at any given point also there was a spark plug wire that melted so it wasnt firing on all 8 it was a real pain but ive gotten all wires pulled away and set in place so they dont move otherwise no complaints
