NEED HELP ASAP! Slip-Fit Cat/Over-Axle Install Hiccup
Quickly now, I purchased this catalytic converter.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-93441/
To mate with this header/y-pipe combo.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2055HKR/
I'm having a real hard time slip-fitting the cat onto this y-pipe. I got it on about 1" maybe? (I forgot to mark where it needed to be fully installed), so I have been banging it with a hammer and block of wood on the outlet end to try and ease it's way onto the y-pipe. From the looks of it I have a good 2" more to go and it's not budging, and also I have no way of getting it off now either.
Is there something I could spray into the slip-fit end that might creep in and help lube the cat/y-pipe to go on more or to come back off?
Also, anybody have an extra over-axle hanger bracket so I can bolt my exhaust up as seen in Fig.#1
http://www.magnaflow.com/07techtips/pdfs/16829.pdf
I'm missing the metal bracket that comes off the over axle hanger and bolts the over-axle pipe to the hanger. I don't have any metal fab friends so I really need someone to help me on here. Asap as well, I really want this done over the weekend.

Re: Slip-Fit Cat Hiccup
Alright. I sprayed some Deep Creep in the edge of the slip-fit end of the cat. I was able to get another 1/2". So it seems I'm good on the cat end of this thread.
So now I really need someone to help me with the little L-bracket needed to install my over-axle pipe. So I can start mocking up the rest. Thanks guys.
P.S. If someone can make me one I can give dimensions needed. Dimensions coming in a few minutes, back to the garage. Diagram attached. Say $5 to your Paypal?

Re: Slip-Fit Cat Hiccup
Apparently this metal L bracket is a stock piece that I should be able to get at a parts store or dealer. Except. I have no idea what it's called or a part number. Need help ASAP.

Here is another picture of it. It's the one already inside the hanger.

I had trouble finding this part when I did my exhaust on another car. I'm actually doing an exhaust replacement on my IROC today, i'll see if I can save the hanger.

I thought I saw that hanger on e-bay and I am thinking it is made by walker. You might check there web site.

I don't need the hanger, which I did buy from Walker. I need the little metal L bracket that goes inside the hanger and allows you to bolt the over-axle pipe to it. My stock exhaust didn't have this metal bracket. I have a diagram above for anyone that would like to make me one. My specs of course, as I don't know how the stock piece looks. Thanks.

May I suggest how you could make this yourself.

Re: NEED HELP ASAP! Slip-Fit Cat/Over-Axle Install Hiccup
If I had metal laying around along with a drill and some type of cutting equipment to cut through a 5/8" thick piece of metal, sure I could do it. But I don't have access or money for any of these. I have roughly $40 to get this car running to get a job and a little metal bracket is holding me back. Not to mention everyone telling me do it myself even though I have a forum with dedicated fabricators that can't simply make me a piece of metal and ship it to me in which I could pay them for it. I could buy a piece of metal stock $10, but then I couldn't drill and cut it to size. I could bend it, that's no problem, I have a vice, but I don't have any cutting and drilling tools. So I would be left with a piece of over-sized flat metal leaving me where I am now.
Sorry if this came off rude, but I have no problem doing things myself in which I prefer because I get to say I did it, but when you're the only one in the house who cares about cars, it makes it hard to prioritize what tools are needed first. I started with a single 155-piece Craftsman set, everything after was my own buying. Creeper, jack stands, heater, rubber hammer, pliers, needle-nose etc. My next buys are an air compressor, air drill, lights lights lights (as I work with a single 500watt ground lamp in a garage with zero lights and 2 small windows) and an air grinder. These should pretty much set me on my way to getting anything done. Then I'll start duplicating sockets and wrenches until I have at least 4 of each up to 1-1/4" and 30mm. I actually have a full list of tools I'm working on.
I have a job lined up but I need a car to get there reasonably. And I'm so close with this car and almost out of funds. I still need to find a way to get a tank of gas, 30 day tags and insurance.

Thanks. Hopefully a local buddy is getting the bracket done for me, but I'll probably be waiting a week to get it so. At least I'll have it done and can move on to the next portion. I guess I can post pictures and finalize this thread once I get everything installed. Thanks again for the support.
