V6 y pipe with a v8?

I'm about to start preparing my car to drop my 350 in and was wondering if I need to get a v8 y pipe for my manifolds or if I can use my v6 y pipe. I'd like to reuse my old setup because it's all new besides the y pipe and cat, and the. At will be removed for a straight pipe. Is this plausible or out of the question?

Nope, sorry. You'll need the proper Y pipe.

No, they don't interchange v6 to v8, totaly different engines. A cat back will pretty much work except for the cat flange style perhaps

but can I just get away with the y pipe interchange and use my new intermediate pipe and muffler?

I hope so because my intermediate pipe is only a year old an my muffler is about 5 months old. I'm ditching my cat when I pull the motor and am going to have a pipe welded in place.

I'm uncertain of what the size of a V6 intermediate pipe is, but I'd "guess" it's small enough to be somewhat restrictive with a 350.

I'd suggest that the performance cars were equipped with 2 3/4's (often called 3").
