Well, I bought an 87 IROC-Z with newish 350 V8. The car was missing some parts, had some wrong ones (the cold start line had the wrong gaskets), and a few broken parts. For $1900 though it was a great buy. The most annoying part is however, is that it lacks a muffler. I don't know where it went or if the PO even has it, but it has an annoying tone and it dumps exhaust towards the middle of the car for everyone to smell during idle. So, I have come to purchasing a new one. However I am split between two mufflers. They are the Flowmaster 40 and the Cherry Bomb Turbo. I like the sound of the Cherry bomb a little more for the high pitched noise and the price but there must be a reason everyone uses the Flowmasters (quality, sound, popularity?)

I have not heard any of these in person though...

Also, if someone as already asked this, please let me know!

 

Flowmaster is a bit of a herd mentality, IMHO. I'd go with the Cherry Bomb.

That's what I was thinking. For $35 on eBay new if I don't like it I won't be out much!

What happened with the Cherry Bomb? I know what you mean by dronemaster though. I got to hear a Flowmaster 40 in person and I couldn't stand it.

 

Didnt sound very great, all the others definetly do.

 

I went waaaaay out of the way and used Powersticks from classic chambered exhaust.

Easy to control the sound and when you WOT in a tunnel your ears begin to shatter.

 

Cherry Bomb turbo style mufflers are junk. Dynomax Super Turbos have a good sound.
