Headers

Hello I have a 1989 Camaro RS with a 305 5.0 L engine the last owner put a Mag flow exhaust I was wounder if I replace the the factory header with some hooker short header will this give me some more hose power what you think I should do I dont what to spend a lot on exchust parts easy bolt ons perfer.

Hooker 2055 shorty headers or Dyno Don shorty headers. You're going to spend $350 or so on the headers, more if you get them ceramic or jet-hot coated. Both sets come with a good y-pipe so you will just need to have an exhaust shop make sure everything matches up right (In my experience, most bolt-on stuff still requries a little adjustment).

This "could" free up anywhere from 10-30 hp, depending on the rest of the motor.

Do you require emissions testing where you are? If so, you can only buy the emissions legal versions.

I had a chance with my truck to do the exhaust system first then headers, i had no performance gain from headers, sounded better thats all.

They only have an 1 1/2" primary, the smallest I ever seen. Dyno Don's are 1 3/4" and hookers are 1 5/8", plus they have a flange that requires gaskets that are guaranteed to blow out where as Don's has a ball and socket connection requiring no gasket to fail.
