header gasket suggestions

header gasket suggestions

Hey jyst installed hooker 2460 shorties. Having a heck of a time gettin passenger side to seal. Drove for 100 miles then retorqed. Im using percys vibe lock bolts with aluminum gaskets. Any other gaskets out there that may help seal better? Thanks

1" long bolts, a lil dab of anti-sieze on the threads. and felpro 1404 thru 140whatever your exhaust port size is.
Don't use the short 3/4" long bolts, they don't have enuff thread engagement to hold.

Look closely at the gaskets you're using, and make sure the "flange" part of the headers is completely ON the gasket, that it is completely ON the flange part of the heads (i.e. it doesn't hang over either into the port or outside the raised area on the head), and that there are no corners or other parts of the hole in the gasket uncovered by either.

Sometimes all you need is to switch from a square hole to a round one, or vice-versa.

Hey thanks everyone. I switched them today to earls pressure masters and tightened it up perfectly.
