oil dip stick and stock exhaust manifolds
Ok, I have an 83 crossfire Z with a 350 block................I believe it is a 79 block. I'm running the stock heads and stock exhaust manifolds............
Here is the problem. I cannot get a dipstick into the block as it is located on the drivers side of the block. There isn't even a 1/2 space where the dip stick tube should go. The question is this...............can someone that is running short headers tell me if I changed out to a short header I'd open up some room down below the header to the block?

In my case you can't pinch the tube.......remember, the tube changes to the driver side on an earlier 350 block. The one in there right now is crushed, just no room at all.

they moved the dipstick in the late 70's to clear the new stupid exhaust manifolds they were using. i can't see why a set of headers wouldn't open things up enough to get a dipstick in there..

Re: oil dip stick and stock exhaust manifolds
Headers will fix it.
But you can "pinch" the tube. I have done it, I know. I did remove the inner portion of the heat shield on the manifold and I slightly ground the manifold in that spot.
You can also get an expensive flexible dipstick. But if you are contemplating headers, dont even think twice, go headers.
