Need help, A/C bracket for header instal.

After years of debate I finally installed a set of headers on my 84 Z28. The installation went very smoothly up to the point when I opened the box with the special adaptor for the AC bracket I purchased, and, after much debate with my good bud, have no idea how this puppy works. I'm looking for help from anyone who has successfully altered/adjusted/found something that works with the stock A/C bracket that used to bolt onto the drivers side exhaust manifold. Photos with the set up would probably help.

I've just cut and welded a piece into the stock bracket on an 83, 84 and 87... They should all be the same. I've posted pics before. If you can't find them remind me and I'll try to dig some up. For that matter. If its the one that wraps around the exhaust you can just use the stock stud and make a spacer the thickness of the manifold out if a piece of tube) or on some cars you can run without it.

Piece o cake...

Go get a coupla pieces of ¼" water pipe. Cut em to a length such that the thickness of the header flange, plus the pipe, = the thickness of the manifold. Use the stock hardware. Voilą... done.

Re: Need help, A/C bracket for header instal.

Thx gents. A couple of good ideas.

I've gone out and found another stock bracket from the wreckers. I'm going to use this as a template and grind off some material so the bracket fits around the header tube and see what that leaves me with.

The stock bolt on the front hole with a properly sized spacer should work fine. The back one won't because the header tube bends down and back and I can't even get the stock bolt into the hole.

Looks like I'm going to have to cut off that part of the bracket, bend some steel as a support and mate it from the header flange to the bracket. I'm going to bolt the support to the bracket first. If not I'll weld it up.

I'll throw on some pics of what I end up with.
