Basic Header Question

Are there any headers I can buy that will bolt onto a stock Y-pipe? When I bought my Camaro it had a pair of Edlebrock headers on it. Which were really impractical. The guy I brought it from glued together flex pipe to make a pair of side pipes.

I figured I would buy the exhaust system from the headers back. But the Y-pipe didn't fit exactly. It also hung down crazy low since the headers exit was much lower then where the stock manifolds are.

So I bought a pair of stock manifolds. So in the end I just bought a whole new exhaust from manifold back. Now I'm wondering if I can buy a pair of headers that will bolt right onto my stock Y-Pipe or if I will have to redo my exhaust system.

Thanks!

If it is important. I have a 1987 Camaro with a 305 TPI.

Don't Think There Are Any Headers That Will Bolt To A Stock Y Pipe.

Re: Basic Header Question

I think edelbrock made two y pipes one for 83-86 and a 87-92 one. both are nla so you will need to fabricate one or get a used one. I have a used 87-92 one. Send me a pm if interested and Ai will measure the flanges and pipe diameter.
