Lt 1 swap exhaust

I have a 83 trans am with a 93 lt1 from a corvette going in. Problem is the exhaust manifolds are center dumps And will hit the crossmember. I want to keep the hookups to the exhaust that is dead center on both manifolds. Looking at headers but from where and part number. Looking looks like headman might be the best choice. Looking to see what else has been done. Should I just take the manifolds off and install engine and put headers on after engine is installed? Any help is appreciated. Need to get car going. Been down for numerous years. This has been a total rebuild of this car.

Re: Lt 1 swap exhaust

Start looking at thirdgen SBC exhausts. the LT1 is identical to a SBC in dimensions. The exhaust ports are the same as well.

If you want a no cost exhaust run your existing stock manifolds.

Exhaust on an LT1 is literally a no brainer, you just go with what works for a regular SBC in a thirdgen.
