Performance implications of unequal exhaust

So as I have found in my searches there are like everything else on our cars more than a dozen "right" ways to do a dual exhaust. One of the more appealing ideas to me, as far as not having to cut the floor pans or other ground clearance issues, is to run two 2 1/2" pipes down the channel on the passenger side, basically follow the routing of the stock exhaust but instead of the Y pipe tying together just run the two tubes next to each other making a 5ish inch infinity sign under the car. My question is has anyone done this and tested what this will do performance wise? Are there any negative effects this could have on the engine since the drivers side bank will have a longer pipe?

Re: Performance implications of unequal exhaust

A prototype SLP car had exhaust just like that.
Doubt its much more than a 1hp difference than a equal length exhaust.

Re: Performance implications of unequal exhaust

Headers are unequal and dont seem to create any big performance issues. Few extra feet of exhaust shouldnt hurt much either. Put an X in system towards rear of car to balance pulses. Should be fine.

I did what you describe with 3" and didnt notice much if any problems with drivers bank being longer by a few ft.
