Give me a reality check on price please

Years ago I bought a set of SLP SS shorties, 50 state legal headers, Y-pipe, and the other pipe, don't recall the name of it, think it went from the Y-pipe to the cat...had them sent to Jet Hot for ceramic coating...

Fast forward 15 years or so, moved, life, more kids, yadda yadda...all still in the box that JH sent me.

I gave my old hood away earlier today to a young man with a Camaro, and he looked up and asked what was in the JH box, told him...he says "man, them things are worth some good money"..we went on talking, seems no one (according to him) makes 50 state smog legal headers in SS anymore...he offered me a pile of money for them, but I declined...

Does anyone here think this set up is worth a grand (his offer)?

Here's the deal, I never want to screw over someone. I thought his offer was kinda high...me being older, him younger...I thought I'd look into it some, figured this board was a good a place to start as any

They are "worth" whatever a person is willing to pay for them..............
That being said, be made the offer, so the only potential screwing is on HIM.............If he thinks its a good price, and you are willing to part with them at that price, I would jump on the offer.

I heard the same thing about the SLP headers. I have a set still in the box from SLP. My exhaust guy told me that they are worth some big money.

If people want to pay for the name, then yeah I guess its worth it. But for less money we can get custom headers of similar quality from Dyno Don.

Good point, hven't looked into his for good bit, but know he was using a similar routing o SLP's..

Are his in SS, and include the Y-pipe a provision for the cat as well as ceramic coated?

I did look at his site, but didn't notice what I was asking

Maybe Don will jump in here, are his CARB certified?

Or do smog guys not even care any more if all is hooked up right?

Re: Give me a reality check on price please

Until Don replies, here is what I know:
- No, Don's headers nor Y pipes are not stainless steel.
- a Y pipe for either single or dual cats is available. Some assembly required, so not coated. You can always apply coating once you get headers & Y pipe.
- not CARB certified. That's a LOT of money that needs to be recouped through higher prices. Everything is there so it could be CARB certified. It should pass visual, and you could skate by with the Edelbrock or SLP E.O. if someone asks.
- No other new, quality options for 1 3/4" shorty headers. They will likely fit well (depending on what else you've done), with minimal adjustments or modifications. (Mine needed a little more bolt clearance).

Re: Give me a reality check on price please

I'd just like to comment on his headers, they ARE NOT CARB, Cali, legal. He states you can just call slp and get a replacement sticker, well I did before I ordered them from don and they laughed at me and stated they don't give replacement CARB plates or stickers, you have to buy a item from them. I'm sure edelbrock is the same way. Do some research before you take some ones word that they are smog legal. On that note I just passed with flying colors with my hooker 2055's
