Smog system modification
The pipe that goes down from the AIR switch to the cat broke off right at the side of the cat. I am going to get a cat without one and just slowly remove the smog pump. For right now I'm going to use an elbow where the T junction used to be, and the smog pump and air diverter valve will just be sitting there pumping out just plain air I guess.
Two Questions:
1. Will the AIR pump and diverter valve continue to work the same way without the exhaust and still pump just regular clean air?
2. Can I use this extra air pressure for some beneficial reason. I was reading about the PCV valves being used to filter out gasses that could contaminate oil. I was wondering how this system would behave if extra air was pumped in one side to force air out the other. Just an idea. Any info is appreciated.
