ok so i did the stock ls1 swap and got 3'' collectors and 3'' mufflers dumped at the axle. well i think its too loud an too much drone and im thinking of going out the rear.
my question is...should/can i just reduce down to 2 1/2'' after the mufflers and over the axle
OR
should i redo everything and reduce down after the headers and get 2 1/2'' mufflers and pipes?

another option is should i do a single 3 or 4'' or stay dual pipes and go 2 1/2''

what do you guys think and why??

Why don't you just add in a resonator or free flowing muffler like manga flow or bullets to tone it done, keeping everything the same.

 

i already have 2 bullet style sweet thunder mufflers on there now

Exactly. You said it was too loud, if you add another muffler or resonator, it'll tone it down more...
