Budget headers for LS1

I'm building up an LS1 83Z to use for a 1/4 mile at a time. I'm on a serious budget for this build and will be making everything my self for the conversion but a set of tubular headers is beyond my expertise. I've looked at Headman plain steel 1 7/8s headers for around $550 and its the best deal I have see yet. Ill pay it if I have to but just wondering if there's anything else in the $300 or less range. Being that I need a conversion header I'm thinking probably not but let me know if there's a better deal somewhere.

They are out of stock but might be on ebay. That's where got mine. You get what you pay for but they aren't horrible. Not the nicest welds and the my pass side is really close to the frame rail and the drivers points down. But if you want budget, this is it.

stock F body manifolds are said to be good to about 400hp, some of the later oem manifolds are good to 500+ hp and are actually not priced too bad.. Hot Rod magazine had an article about them in the June '15 issue..

Don't budget on headers that are going to run that hot. You'll burn thought cheap headers quickly. Just make sure the material is thick, don't aim for the largest size, unless you know you can fit them without getting out a hammer, and they need to support 600+ hp. Slp and kooks are probably the best but, well, they aren't cheap.
