best manifolds
Hey guys. What would be the better exhaust manifolds to use for a 87 gta
Mild 350 Eddy rpm intake 600 Holley.
Now need to build exhaust. Have to source manifolds.
Thanks.

Re: best manifolds
The v8 third gen manifolds all look the same externally, but the TPI/HO manifolds had larger outlets (about 2-1/4", vs something like 1-7/8" for the others). If your car is a GTA then the original manifolds should be the better ones.
Otherwise just put headers on it and be done with it...

I don't have any Mani's right now. That's why I was wondering what ones to look for.
As I will be going to the JY to get some.

Edelbrock Performer is a good factory style replacement.

Re: best manifolds
I'm sorry, I read your post wrong.
You want Exhaust Manifolds....
Stock ones suck, they're restrictive and heavy.
Hooker 2055 or Dyno Don,
Both come with 2.5" collectors and a y-pipe that exits with 3".
$500ish uncoated (Black paint only)
$750ish ceramic coated.
Combined with 3" catback of your choice should free up anywhere from 10-20hp.

Re: best manifolds
I think I already read that 2.5 inch ram horns don't fit our chassis but will the 2 inch deep back ones fit ?

Re: best manifolds
pretty much nothing else is shaped like f-body manifolds. The Vette/ramshorns/anything that exits in the center will hit the motor mounts. Truck manifolds and similar 60's stuff hangs down to low and the rear exits aren't in a good place (though I haven't held them up on one of our cars to see if they could be made to fit somehow).
Honestly, if you don't get the manifolds, the spacer off the passenger side and the y-pipe, making stuff up to fit to the manifolds will cost you more than connecting an exhaust to headers and I'd be surprised if you could get manifolds for much cheaper than you can find used headers here.
The "good" manifolds in good shape are going up in price now (people are starting to care about restoring these cars, people dealing with stricter emissions...) I advertised 2 sets of manifolds (complete, with all the hardware, heat shields, y-pipe... both had 1 stud that needed to be replaced) in the last year and both were snapped up within minutes for more than used headers typically go for (more surprising, I listed both locally, that I won't ship and both were from out of town and paid immediately and then told me that they'll figure out how to get them from me later, they just didn't want to loose them).

Re: best manifolds
I would go with shorty headers they can be had for a little over 100 bucks. Beyond that I'm sure somebody on here can trade you some stockers.
Re: best manifolds
I don't know what your budget is, but you can get new aftermarket manifolds from Dorman. Part numbers 674519 and 674518 They go for about $60 per side.
