Catalytic Problems

Hey guys,
For awhile now Iv got white smoke (not because it cold) coming out of the exhaust and Iv ruled out the valve seals and the head gasket. I believe it may be moister built up in the old cat. How do I test for this problem?

Re: Catalytic Problems

Water in the exhaust or cat should boil off and evaporate within 5 minute of being at full temp. If you're still getting white smoke, you're getting water in the fuel/oil which means you have a leak somewhere.

do a cylinder pressure test to see if any funny business is going on in the actual combustion chamber.

Re: Catalytic Problems

Think I got it solved. I think there's water in the gas tank, there is a hole in the tank and over time I think it's been condensating since the car does sit for long periods of time. Engine has started to sound bogged down like it's starved of fuel as well. It would explain the expensive water out of the exhaust and the white smoke
