Heat riser ?? [85 T/A]

Hi guys,
Quick question, Should there be a gasket between the exhaust manifold and the heat riser valve on my '85 305 TransAm?

I don't remember one falling out when we took it apart and the mating surfaces don't look like one was in there.

Right: didn't come with one. You could put one in there if you want but I don't recommend it. Just clean both surfaces up real good with a Disc Of Death without leaving thumbprints, and put it back without one.
