cat back system or just a muffler?

ok, my question is, how much more hp would i gain if i went with a cat-back sytem vs. just buying a hi-perf (quality) muffler?
i most likely plan on getting a flowmaster, and having the exhaust shop i go to bending and installing the larger pipes. but does the cat-back system give that much more power?
if its less than 5 hp, then i would rather save the money for future engine mods that do actually give me power

any and all suggestions would be appreciated

I'd have your exhaust shop fab up some 3 in. pipes. They wont be mandrel bent, but the loss in hp would probobally be very little.''if any at all'' Save all the cash you can, it adds up!

costill91Z-

Our cars sound pretty similar, we'll have to race someday

I got a Flowmaster system with a high-flow catback, all brand new and installed with chrome tips for $400.00.

I would guess the HP increase is somewhere from 7-10HP with just the high flow cat alone... when I pulled out of the muffler shop, I totally felt a major performance increase!

I doubt you'll notice a difference with just a muffler. But a cat-back will definately wake the car up a little. Check out my post of my soundclip of the Hooker cat-back. If you want performance the flows are a little more restrictive than some mufflers. One of which is the Hooker aero chamber that comes with the cat-back.

well, if i do look at a cat-back system, which system is the best ( i know every one has their own opinion) i want a good sound but not too loud, and one that is cost effective. until i can unload the civic or refinance it, money is very much an object!
