Axle/Gears: 10-bolt/3.73 ..
EGR Queation...
(Question) Does the EGR require the ECM in order to function?...

Because I'm considering eliminating the ECM, but I still want to retain the basic emission controls (cat, air injection, EGR, vapor recovery)...

EGR showed up on GM cars around 1973; computer controls around 1980. So you should be able to run the EGR system without the ECM.
Finding the hardware to do a retrofit might be a challenge.

How did the EGR on the Canadian cars function? With just vacuum and a TVS?
