I had wondered about that muffler, thanks for taking the time to make an honest review, Colt. IIRC our cars are pretty similar, somewhat racey 383 cars with no cats, dual 2.5 headers into a 3" y pipe. After looking at lots of muffler designs and reviews I agree that it seems that most of today's mufflers are meant for cars with cats. I'm actually going to try making my own muffler like one of the high dollar rebuildable race mufflers. An all stainless canister with a cap that's riveted on and an interior made of stainless wool and ceramic fiber. If that doesn't work well for noise I'll be installing a high flow cat. Like you, I don't want the neighborhood loathing me and every driver within a block radius giving me the stink eye when I accelerate.
