88 Firebird don't know what headers to get

Hi all, i have a 88 firebird with a 350 that's soon to be replaced by a 383 stroker, I'm looking to also swap the tranny out with a t56 6 speed manual, I've looked around a bit and I'm just wondering what some good headers would be? Anything would be helpful. Thanks!

Re: 88 Firebird don't know what headers to get

I got Doug's headers for my 350 SBC (now a 383 stroker), and while they fit on the engine nicely, there are no y-pipes made to fit these headers, so I had to make a custom y-pipe to mate them back to the muffler. So beware of y-pipe options if going with Doug's headers.
If I were to do it all over again I would just go with Hooker Shorty headers because they have a y-pipe on Summit that (theoretically) bolts right up without the need for custom piping.

Re: 88 Firebird don't know what headers to get

I've got an 88 IROC with a 350 in it and I bought Hedman headers 68470 from a member on here and then got the matching Hedman y pipe from Jegs (https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...rsistYmm=false) and it bolted right in. They're midlength headers but they sound sweet. The only difference is that I have the 700r4 trans but I don't know what difference that will make in terms of fit. I'm really pleased at the sound and can't wait to install my 3" cat back system tonight to hear the car really come to life!
