Open headers, backfiring at idle

Open headers, backfiring at idle

I just put on 1-5/8" Hedman long tubes and I took the car for a drive around the block. At idle it kept backfiring, I could feel it through the floor! When I'm on the gas it doesn't happen. Why does it do that? Is it bad for the car? Will it go away when I put the rest of the exhaust on?

They sound AWESOME though. Scares the hell outa everyone

I checked under the car and only the right side is backfiring. Why would it do that?

More than likely..its hot unburnt gases exploding when it hits the air.. it will burn "pop" like you say..

nevermind, I mixed up the plugs wires.
Car runs and sounds great now.
