I ordered a "direct fit" Magnaflow catalytic converter to replace the pancake style converter on my '82. Does anybody know of a real direct fit? The Magnaflow was a direct fit in relation to the pipes, but the air tube is an obvious miss and so are the mounting options. The Magnaflow flange didn't come close to the body mount, and it also didn't come with the nuts welded to the flange for the factory bolts to attach to.
Any suggestions on a "direct fit" that allows for proper mounting?
Well, I want to be legal since I'm looking at selling the car. I just need to know what options I have for a cat that won't require the cost of a new cat, the cost of an air tube extension and the cost of manufacturing a mount.
I know the old pancake style cats have to have something of a replacement.
In the attached pics, you can see that the exhaust pipes are perfectly aligned, but the air tubes are way off. The second pic shows the mounting hardware and while the pipes attach fine, there is no option for attaching to the body mount.
