2.8 V6 exhaust manifold removal tips
I have an 86 with the 2.8 V6.
My passenger side exhaust manifold has a very notable leak that can be heard over my horrid exhaust leak. In the spring I plan to remove the manifolds and put gaskets on the manifolds (as I have recently discovered there are none on the engine). I already have an exhaust shop that’s got my exhaust leak covered (since it’s on the elbow going into the muffler) but I’m just wanting to do the manifolds myself. The gaskets I plan to put on the engine are either gonna be Mahle Composites or Victor Reinz Composite gaskets.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips that would help me remove them/prevent breaking any bolts or other necessary components. Also any products you guys could recommend to would be helpful
Any Input is welcome: R422

Re: 2.8 V6 exhaust manifold removal tips
For me the bolts broke right off...like literally with no effort.
the manifolds had no gaskets from the factory.......thyey were just put straight onto the cast iron heads and bolted down. Sounds like you have a broken or loose bolt not holding the manifold down tightly?
