Best compact/bullet style muffler

I'm looking for a good compact/bullet style muffler that is loud at wot but not crazy loud at idle. Right now I'm running open LT hedman headers on a built 383 with a wicked cam. It's basically stock car loud and way too loud for the street. I was thinking dynomax race bullets would be good, but maybe they are too loud? Maybe cherry bomb extremes? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

There are no quiet bullet mufflers but magnaflows makes this that seems a lot better than others

Re: Best compact/bullet style muffler

Any bullet style muffler will be way loud so If I were using one I wouldn't spend a lot of $ on them. At $20 Dynomax seems like a good deal. They are all high flow and all loud.

What about cherry bomb extremes? Do they flow good?

Engine Masters on Motortrend has done a bunch of muffler testing, those videos might help you make a more informed choice. Basically the more you can see through it, the better it flows and the less it attenuates sound. The general design of the muffler matters more than the specific brand, as most of them are variations on a common theme.

Thanks I’ll take a look at the videos.

I really like the Jones "Flow Pack" mufflers. They are right about 30 bucks each from Summit or Jeg's. They have a good tone to them, imho.
